Conneaut School District

Introduction

In order to graduate from the Conneaut School District, a student must successfully complete a graduation project as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Chapter 4 regulations enacted into law January 16, 1999.
It states, “in addition to course completion, grades, and results of local assessment aligned with the academic standards, students must complete a culminating project to assure that students are able to apply, analyze, synthesize and evaluate information and communicate significant knowledge and understanding.”
The graduation project will be phased-in over the next three school years: graduates in 2002 will complete the requirements for grades 11 and 12; graduates in 2003 will complete the requirements for grades 10, 11, and 12; graduates of 2004 and on will complete all the requirements set forth in this manual.

The graduation project at Conneaut School District is the building of a portfolio that provides students
the opportunity to document the
(1) quality of their curriculum work,
(2) personal interests,
(3) service to the school/community, and
(4) career exploration.
Conneaut School District’s graduation project will also provide students the opportunity to demonstrate that they have fulfilled the Mission Statement of the district.

It is the mission of the Conneaut School District, working
with the family and community, to provide its learners
the motivation to succeed, opportunities to achieve, and
resources to grow in an ever-changing world
