Introduction
In order to graduate from the Conneaut
School District, a student must successfully complete a graduation project
as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Chapter 4 regulations
enacted into law January 16, 1999.
It states, “in addition to course
completion, grades, and results of local assessment aligned with the academic
standards, students must complete a culminating project to assure that
students are able to apply, analyze, synthesize and evaluate information
and communicate significant knowledge and understanding.”
The graduation project will be
phased-in over the next three school years: graduates in 2002 will complete
the requirements for grades 11 and 12; graduates in 2003 will complete
the requirements for grades 10, 11, and 12; graduates of 2004 and on will
complete all the requirements set forth in this manual.
The graduation project at Conneaut
School District is the building of a portfolio that provides students
the opportunity to document the
(1) quality of their curriculum
work,
(2) personal interests,
(3) service to the school/community,
and
(4) career exploration.
Conneaut School District’s graduation
project will also provide students the opportunity to demonstrate that
they have fulfilled the Mission Statement of the district.
