Conneautville, PA
continued

As the surrounding Townships were cleared by settlers, Conneautville continued to grow.  A need for a route from Pittsburgh to Erie brought about the construction of the Erie Extension Canal with was completed in 1844.  The Canal brought prosperity to the Borough of Conneautville until the collapse of the Elk Creek Aqueduct in Erie County in 1871.

The Bessemer & Lake Erie R.R. now operates their line to Conneaut, Ohio following this old canal through Conneatville.
