Linesville History
Continued

Onions, in the era beginning with 1900, were grown in the swamp muck and shipped by rail to cities, furnishing a great supply to the State.
Produce and milk were shipped and Linesville was a busy rail center, located on the Pennsylvania Railroad from Pittsburgh to Erie. The station was located on lower Pymatuning Street and patrons could ship freight or buy a ticket at that location. A spur Bessemer Line left the station for Conneaut Lake Park.

A street car ride from the station took the passenger in the middle of Erie Street to Meadville. A restaurant was located near the station and many rail workers lived in Linesville.

At this time Bunday Lumber Company was a busy sawmill and built most of the present store buildings. Erie Street, the main street, was first paved the full length with brick. Immigrant labor was hired to do the work. Bricks are still in place under the present street.
